YOGAFAITH YIN focuses on slowing down and understanding the rhythms of God's grace. Come with us as we develop a Mary mindset in a Martha world, still and immovable at the feet of Jesus.

Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. Matthew 11:28-30, MSG

14-10-7, A Functional Approach to Yoga Asana

There are hundreds of yoga poses and dozens of yoga styles. How is a yoga student or yoga teacher to decide which pose works most effectively for each student? The functional approach to yoga asana is an answer to this question. The functional approach to yoga practice is based on three premises:

  • All the major joints of the body can be grouped into 14 skeletal segments.
  • All the major muscles of the body can be grouped into 10 muscular groups.
  • Most yoga asanas are variations of 7 basic forms.

If a teacher understands how these premises are applied, they will be able to quickly and efficiently determine the best variation of any form for any student.
